Hi Mohammed Istaq Ahmed,

Thanks for visiting my site and thanks for your interest in Laos.

To arrange a business visa to Laos, you have to have a proof of work assignment and you need to have some one in Laos to sponsor you e.g your employer or business partner. You won't be able to get such visa without a sponsor.

For your info, there is a section on business visa here https://www.laos-guide-999.com/laos-visa.html#buss

Hope this helps.

Labour visa or work visa (LA-B2)
by: Duangpy

Hi Mamin,
To get the LA-B2 visa you need to already have work permits, ID cards and be legally employed by a registered enterprise in Laos. In short, you'll have to be in Laos first (on another type of visa). Usually, your employer helps to sort this out. They prepare all the paperwork for getting the visa for you, once it is approved by the government you then can enter the country on a tourist visa, once you have ID and/or work permit you will need to get out and come back to get the right visa (LA-B2).

Cambodian visa fee & documents required
by: Anonymous

Hi there,
Cambodian visa fee is generally $30, it might be a bit more expensive for some nationalities but not much.
Regarding required documents, basically, you need to have a valid passport not expiring within the next six months, photo(s), and you may need to provide a proof of hotel booking and some amount of money to support your trip. The post on Mar 08, 2017 stated all this, please scroll down for more info.

Either Malaysia or Cambodia
by: Anonymous

Hi Shovo,
There is Lao embassy in both countries, please refer to embassy page.
https://www.laos-guide-999.com/Laos-embassy.html

You can do your homework (check the address to see which one is closer or easier to get to) and plan to have one day for the visa. The visa process is more or less the same regardless of where you apply so... depends on your preference.

Hello,

Bangladesh nationals holding Ordinary Passport requires Visa Prior to Arrival for Laos and there is no exception irrespective of the means of your travel. Also, there is no Laos Embassy in Bangladesh, so you need to get your Lao Visa from Lao Embassy located in other countries. It is easy to get Lao Visa from Bangkok, as you will mostly to go Laos Visa Thailand.

Coming to Cambodian Visa, you CAN GET Visa On Arrival. However, as Ishtiaque already mentioned be prepared to go through a lot of hassle and trying to do so may turn your holiday into a nightmare. So it is always better to get your Visa prior to arrival.

Note that, even though it is okay to travel over land to Laos, but for Cambodia, there may be some restrictions. So inquire with the embassy before hand, if you plan to take the land route to Cambodia from Thailand.

Anyway, if you decide to give VoA a try for Cambodia, kindly keep in mind the following:

- Have a confirmed hotel booking which is fully paid.
- Have your Return or Onward Air Ticket
- Have at least USD 700 in cash
- You may be interviewed upon arrival
- Visa On Arrival Fees for Bangladesh nationals is USD 30.

Hope the information is of some help, anyway I would suggest you to get both Laos and Cambodia Visas before hand. It is not difficult to get these Visas from Bangkok, Thailand.

Happy Travels!

Cheers,
Susmit

Hi Imran,

Bangladeshi national needs to obtain Lao visa in advance. For Cambodia, you might get on arrival visa but there is a possibility they you will go through a lot of hassle, so getting visa in advance is advisable.

For procedure, embassy addresses and required documents kindly check previous comments. Trust you will get all the information.

Regarding US Visa
by: Susmit

Hi,

Replying to the last query about US Visa.

First, you need to fill in the US Visa form (DS 160) online or from Saimon Center. Address: House#4A, Road#22, Gulshan- 01,Dhaka-1212.

Don't bother to go to a travel agency, they CAN do nothing to help you get a visa.

You need to fill the form and then take a print out of the receipt page as per instruction and pay the amount of USD 160 i.e. in BDT at any of the 51 EBL branches. Once you pay that fee and submit your passport at Saimon Center, you can schedule an interview. On the date of the interview, go to the US Embassy.

On the interview date, they will take your fingerprints first and then call you for the interview. After the interview the US Visa Official at the Embassy will either return you a receipt with APPROVED stamp and ask you to collect the passport from Saimon Center or in case your visa is rejected, he will give your passport back with a list of reasons for which your application could be rejected.

Kindly note that, many travel agencts/agencies will try to convince you that they can get you the Visa for US, but the fact is that they have no influence what so ever on the decision. All they can do is fill your DS 160 (which is pretty extensive and you will need a lot of information to fill that form including your parents birthdays, etc.) and submit your passport at Saimon Center. So do not bother paying 10 or 15 thousands to them to do this for you. If you are not comfortable filling your own form, you can go to Saimon Center where there are Saimon Center staffs who will help you with it for some official fee.

Hope the information is of some help to you!

For more details you can visit the following links:

Good Luck! Feel free to ask, if you need some help.

Best,
Susmit

Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos

Susmit & Ishtiaque

Hi,

Initially I was planning to visit Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos in the same trip but I guess if I try to cover all 3 countries I will not be able see much in each country. I can take one week leave from office which makes it 5 working day +weekends before and after. Also I need to spend some time in Bangkok for Cambodia and Laos visa. So I will drop Vietnam this time. Next week I will apply for the Thai visa. I will plan the travel dates according to when I can take leave and getting the Thai visa. Hopefully by end of February.

With all the places mentioned by you 2 I will try to summarize and plan as per my available time. As suggested by Susmit I will avoid the Elephant camp, I visited the Pinnawala Elephant orphanage in Sri Lanka and it was nice.

Not to worry about my bitter experience, I took it as learning. When my hand bag was hijacked in Paris in 2002 afterwards I have been always very careful when in Paris. In 2012 I was in Paris for a week and nothing happened, even I was traveling all alone till late night. I didn’t realize I need to be equally careful in Barcelona too, I assumed Spain to be a safer country, so I had my lesson. Before Spain I was in Luxemburg and Switzerland in same trip, maybe I expected Spain to be in same standard. Apart from these two incidents I do not have any major issues.

Thanks to Susmit and Ishtiaque for all the information, I may bother you again if you don’t mind. Glad to find this site and being able to get some practical information. Before travel I check lonely planet and some other sites but I do not take much preparation, my trips are sort of experimental. I remember, in Egypt I just booked the Nile Cruise from Aswan to Luxor on the spot and got into the Ship. But it was excellent, didn’t regret. Few times in Kolkata I have taken trains from Howrah station without prior plan. Once I ended up reaching in Malda station at 3.30 am and stayed the night at the station, the room was huge and it was kind of thrilling being in an unknown remote place and all alone. Once I traveled to Bhubaneshwar because the name of the place sounded nice.

Take care,

Munni

by: Susmit

Hey,

First replying to query, it takes around 3 working days to process Vietnamese Visa in Cambodia. It got mine in the same day in Sihanoukville. But last year when I enquired about Vietnam Visa in Cambodia, they said it will take at least 3 working days and asked for USD 200, which is double of what I paid 3 years back.

About travelling to Cambodia and Laos over land, I crossed through Nongkhai and had no problem travelling to Laos over land from Thailand. The Visa officer at the Lao Embassy in Phnom Penh said I could use any land border or airport. I personally never crossed land border to Cambodia, but the Cambodian Visa officials in Cambodian Embassy in Bangkok mentioned it would take more days to process my Visa if I prefer to Travel by land.

To Ishtiaque: Yes, We can definitely meet up sometime in Dhaka. I am in Europe and then going to India for few days. I should be back in Dhaka by first week of February. Let's meet up then.

Cheers,
Susmit

Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam
by: Ishtiaque

Hi Munni,

My experience of obtaining Vietnamese visa was not so good. I applied in Cairo and when usually Egyptians get visa within 2 working days I had to wait for 6 days since for Bangladeshi national embassy need to get security clearance from Hanoi before visa processing. Not sure how many days it will take in SEA countries. Susmit – How many days it take to get Vietnamese visa at Laos/Cambodia?

Laos and Cambodia don’t allow Bangladeshi national to travel by road, at least they didn’t do so during my trip in 2015. Because of this I missed out North eastern part of Cambodia and Southern part of Laos where there are some nice places to visit and different tribes to meet.

As Susmit said – Vientiane, Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang, Kuang Si waterfall are must in Laos. You may consider to visit Muang Ngoi Neua, Luang Namta through Nong Khiaw. These are some less travelled remote places but most serene ones I have ever visited. If Sapa (Vietnam) is part of your itinerary then you can cross border from Muang Khua. You will get a lot of information browsing this website.

At Cambodia – Post Siem Reap you can take a boat ride to Battambang. You will be able to see floating villages and their daily life on the way instead of taking a half/full day trip and paying extra. Battambang is a laid back old town and you can enjoy bamboo train ride over there. I couldn’t manage to visit Eastern and North Eastern part but there are some nice places as well. I heard Koh Rong is a nice place but it was not part of my itinerary.

Lot of places to visit in Vietnam. How many days have you budgeted and when are you planning to visit? Based on that I can suggest some places.

I always find Lonely planet very helpful. Used this one for my trip : http://shop.lonelyplanet.com/asia/vietnam-cambodia-laos-northern-thailand-travel-guide-4/.

Sorry to hear your bitter experience in some places, I hope nothing such will happen during your trip in Indochina.

Good luck with your travel. Keep us posted with your experience.

Susmit: It’s nice to meet you virtually. I have moved back to Bangladesh, Once you are in country let’s connect sometimes.

Ishtiaque

Hello,

Sorry to hear about bitter experiences in Paris and some places in India. Indian hotel unless they are 3* or above seem to create problem for Bangladeshis checking in on walk in basis. You will face this problem in most part of India especially in and around Delhi. So for future Travel U suggest you to book in advance. You can't blame small hotels for doing it either, admitting a foreign national requires them to fill shut loads of documents including some online form called the C form. Basically it's a hassle for them, so they try to avoid it.

Anyway, coming to the topic of your South East Asian trip, you should start from Laos then to Cambodia and lastly Vietnam. That is if you are travelling by road. If you are travelling by Air you are going to miss a few places along the way for sure and you can't really do much about it. But then you have the option of travelling to whichever city you want to visit in your preference order.

I can only suggest you the must see places for these countries as I myself didn't do much of trekking or camping in these places. For Laos, Vientiane, Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang are must. These are the bases from where you can move around and participate in activities of your choice. Do not miss the Caves in Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang. Avoid the elephant camps, these camps are highly advertised and the hotel/Travel agents makes them look like must do. But frankly it is not worth the money and time. You will end up feeding a captivated/per elephant for a couple of days and ride some elephants. That's it. Kayaking and water rafting are must do in Laos especially in Vang Vieng. You can also enjoy so might parties in VV. They are insane!

Coming to Cambodia, I would suggest you to start with Siem Rep and visit the temples (Angkor and around) for a couple of days. You can spend a day in the floating market in Siem Rep. It is pretty nice if you do it yourself instead of a day your as you get to meet and know the locals. Phnom Penh is nice. The river front and the palaces are beautiful. If you go there do not miss paying a visit to the killing field and the museum. You can also visit other local attractions. Note that, it is said that Phnom Penh is the best place to get visas for the South Eastern countries. It is definitely true for the IS, EU, Australia, rtf passport holder. Not so much for Bangladesh nationals but still you can try to get your Vietnam visa/Myanmar/Laos Visa from Phnom Penh. It is quick and easy. Sihaniukville is a place you should not miss if you like the sea and related activities. It is also known for it backpacker crowds and parties. there are a number of national parks through out Laos and Cambodia, if you are a nature and wildlife enthusiast you should visit at least few of them.

Lastly, Vietnam has a loads to do from North to South. Doesn't matter where you land or cross the border you will love it. Considering you need to get a pre approval letter anyway from a Vietnamese tour agency it is not a bad idea to actually book a tour with one of them. You can customise it as per your wish and if you book the tour they provide you with the letter/ approval from the immigration for free or with a small charge. I booked a tour through Tonkin Travela myself and they were super helpful and managed to complete all immigration formalities for me on time. I had provided their details in one of my post in this forum. You can scroll up and find it. But for the ULTIMATE Vietnam experience you should do a bike your yourself. I heard it is the best way to enjoy Vietnam from my fellow Travel friend's. I myself do not even know how to ride a bike, so this was never an option for me :p

Good luck, keep us updated on this forum about your Vietnam Visa process. I would love to know the recent changes if there're some.

Best,
Susmit

Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos
by: Munni

Hi Susmit,

Thanks for the additional very useful information and suggestion.

I just thought of checking if US visa is of any help in getting VoA in Laos or Cambodia like Turkey or few other countries, now I know it’s not. It’s been several years that I have been planning to visit these countries but the visa matter has been holding me back. Few years back I got to know one of my colleagues traveled to Cambodia with visa on arrival and with hope I spoke to him. Hearing his experience I dropped the idea of traveling with VoA, which is similar to your experience. Now I am more convinced that I should have the visa in advance and I will apply it in Bangkok, both for Laos and Cambodia.

Thanks for the information about Vietnam visa. Last week after checking the official website of Vietnam embassy in Dhaka, I emailed to them for guidance about the pre-arrival approval. They asked me to contact Novo Cargo regarding this. I communicated with them and below is the reply which I got last evening:

"Dear Ms. Munni

We are authorized agent for Vietnam Visa processing. Please check the blow information for approval.

1. Color photocopy of passport
2. Return Air ticket
3. Hotel Reservation
4. Tour itinerary
5. Approval charges BDT 15000.00.

With Best Regards"

15000 taka just for approval letter seems bit too high. So I decided to try to find a source in Vietnam and get it from there. Now with your information I might try to get the visa in Cambodia. Any tips about what are the documents I will need to apply for the visa?

Europe is not necessarily always safe and secure. I personally have some bitter experience in Paris and in Barcelona in my two different trips in 2002 and 2012. Whereas, I was highly impressed during my travel to Myanmar in 2015 even in places like Bagan and Mandalay. In India once I faced challenges of getting hotel room in Puri being a solo female, all other places were so far ok.

Any suggestion about sight-seeing will be appreciated. I don’t want to come back and then regret for missing to visit some nice places.

Regards,

Munni

in re: Munni's post/questions
by: Susmit

Hi,

Having a VALID US Visa is of no help travelling to South East Asian nations. Only Cambodia offers Visa On Arrival for all nationals including Bangladesh. If you are thinking of using VoA facility for Cambodia be prepared to go through a lot of hassle at the airport from the check in staffs and then from the immigration upon arrival. My personal experience was an awful one. I had my Credit Card, International Debit Card and USD 400 in cash. The Air Asia staffs at the Transit in Don Mueng (I WAS travelling to Diem Rep from Bangalore) held me for 4 hours and almost sent me back because I didn't have USD 700 in cash. :p

Upon arrival you may be asked to show all your hotel and on ward Travel arrangement and may be asked to withdraw from the ATM Machine at the Airport to show that your card is VALID.

So I would suggest to get a Visa before hand for Cambodia and Laos from Bangkok as Istiaque did. It is easier to obtain Vietnam Visa from Cambodia, so I would suggest you to apply for your Vietnam Visa in Cambodia (Sihanoukville or Phnom Penh). It is really easy to get one even if you are a Bangladeshi. The agents just charge extra for Nationalities like ours.

With regard to flights to these countries it is really cheap to fly between these countries Via Bangkok. So a Double Entry Transit Visa for Thailand or a Re-Entry Permit (with multiple entry costing THB 2900) is what you need.

Clearance from Vietnamese immigration is necessary if you want to apply for Vietnam Visa in Dhaka.

Last, it is considerably safe for solo female travellers to Travel in these countries, but I would suggest to be careful; as you cannot compare it to the safety and security yoh enjoyed in Europe or the USA. However it is nothing scary, there are a lot of female solo traveller in these part of the world.

Hope the above information is of some help. Feel free to ask if you need any other Info.

Good luck with your Travel!! :)

Cheers,
Susmit

Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos
by: Munni

Hi Ishtiaque,

Thanks for your quick response. It’s really good to know that Lao and Cambodian embassies are close by and visa can be arranged in such short time. I guess I can afford to spend at least 2 days in Bangkok considering the flight convenience and cost of traveling from Dhaka to Bangkok and then onward.

Certainly I would like to avoid the hassle at immigration. I don’t want to spoil my mood arguing with the immigration and airport staffs. Sounds like having the visa ready in advance will definitely make the travel more enjoyable.

Just one comment, Bangladeshi females are not traveling alone only these days. At least I myself have been traveling alone for a long time. My 10 days solo travel in Nepal back in 1998 included the remote places like Pokhra, Chitwan and Dhulikhel, one of my best travel memories. During a boat trip in Salzburg, Austria I met an elderly British couple and they were bit surprised to see a Bangladeshi female traveling alone.

Anyways, thanks for the useful information.

Munni

Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam
by: Ishtiaque

Hi Munni,

It’s really nice to know that female solo travellers are travelling from Bangladesh these days.

If you don’t want to waste time for visa processing at Bangkok you can do the same at Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh since you are planning to visit Vietnam as well. However, if you are travelling from Bangladesh I guess Dhaka-Bangkok return flight ticket will be much cheaper than Dhaka-HMC/Hanoi. At Bangkok, Lao and Cambodian embassies are side by side, so if you reach Bangkok in the morning you will manage to get both visas on the same day.
There are some countries who allow port entry if you have valid US/Schengen visa but not sure whether Laos/Cambodia follow the same. If I recall correctly Susmit got on arrival Cambodian visa but my suggestion will be to get visas in advance to avoid unnecessary hassles at immigration as well as departing airport – it will only cost half of your day.

During my visit I met a good no. of female solo travelers even in some remote places in Laos so I guess you will be perfectly fine should you travel alone.

Hope this helps.

Ishtiaque

I have been planning to travel to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos for last few years but due to difficulties with visa I have not traveled yet. This time I am seriously thinking of having a trip to these countries. I found lots of very useful information in this site, specially from Susmit and Ishtiaque, many thanks to all of you.

I am just wondering if you have any idea about..... I have valid US visa in my passport, will that help me to get visa on arrival for Cambodia and Laos? I do not have intention to stay in Bangkok, if I have to apply for Cambodia and Laos visa in Bangkok that will reduce the duration of my trip in other countries.

Another point, do you see any challenges for a female travelling alone in these countries? FYI, I have traveled alone in some Asian and European countries so it will not be the first time.

Re:Visiting Lao by Air
by: Susmit

Hi,

Yes, you can visit Laos by air. From KL you can take a flight to Vientiane or Luang Prabang irrespective of your nationality. However, as a Bangladesh national you will be required to obtain your visa prior to your arrival, as Visa On Arrival is not available for Bangladesh national at the border points including airports in Laos.

There is no Laos Embassy in Dhaka, so you will need to apply for Lao Visa in Kuala Lumpur or in any other Lao Embassy.

Hope the above information helps.

Hi,
Susmit,Ishtiaque and all others above commenters.......

I got Philippine visa last week and applied for Malaysian visa on the day of getting my Philippine visa. After getting Malaysian visa I will apply for Myanmar at 21 on this September. It's noted that I have already Chinese and Singapore visa on my passport.

In that regard I made a travel itinerary like-
Dhaka>Myanmar(Yangon)>China(Guangzhou)>Singapore>Malaysia then Philippine. But my point is if I wish to go Laos,Cambodia,and Vietnam;
1. Can I get Laos visa from Myanmar at Laos embassy in Yangon?
2. Is it possible to get Vietnam visa from Malaysia or any other which I mentioned above?
3. How many day's need to get Vietnam visa from bd?
4. How many days need to keep in hand for applying Vietnam visa from bd?
It may helpfully to make travel itinerary if I got proper information.

Thanks.

Replying to the Question about Overstay and Non Immigrant Visa
by: Susmit

Hi,

First as your topic mentions 'Overstay', I will go to that. You can get an Extension for Only 7 days after the date which is mentioned in your Entry Stamp.(Most other nationals get an extension for 30 days but not Bangladeshis, Pakistanis, Indians and some more) Failure to get out of Thailand may will lead to hefty fine as well as there is a new rule which bans the person concerned from entering Thailand. However, you need not panic.

The fine for overstaying is between 500 baht to 20,000 baht depending on the number of days you have overstayed.

Thailand Introduces New Overstay Rules !
These rules apply to the Alien giving himself up at immigration and are as follows :

Overstay more than 90 Days – 1 year ban from Thailand
Overstay more than 1 Year – 3 year ban from Thailand
Overstay more than 3 Years – 5 year ban from Thailand
Overstay more than 5 Years – 10 year ban from Thailand

There is Thai Immigration Office in Chaengwatana called Immigration Division I. They can help you out when it comes to applying for a Thai Non Immigrant visa which is required for anyone who is working, studying, etc.

Address: Chaeng Watthana 13 Yaek 3-2-15, Thung Song Hong, Lak Si, Bangkok 10210

Kindly note that Bangladesh nationals CANNOT apply for Thai Visa in the nearby Thai Embassies, such as Thai Embassy in Vientiane (Laos), Phnom Penh (Cambodia), etc. You need to go back to Bangladesh if you intend to apply for your visa in a Thai Embassy or Consulate.

The Immigration Division I office allows anyone who is already in Thailand to apply for a conversion of his/her visa. So, if you do not want to go outside Thailand, that is the only viable option according to me.

You need all required documents from your employer stating the position of your service, type of industry, salary, etc.

I am currently in Bangkok and will be here till the 25th of August, if you need some help, mail me on susmitpaul2009@gmail.com

Hope the information is of some help.

Good Luck,

Hi Raafsan!

You are welcome. Also forgot to mention about the Bank Statements/Solvency Certificate.

I submitted a statement as well as a solvency letter from my bank along with the application. Most probably it is necessary if you are applying in Vietnamese Embassy, Dhaka. But anywhere else the same is not required, a copy of your Credit Card will suffice. :)

Lao Visa in Bangkok
by: Susmit

Hi,

Kindly refer to the previous post by Ishtiaque and me for all information. Anyway, as far as I know, it could take 1 to 2 days, i.e. if you submit your application on Monday morning and show that you will be travelling very soon, may be next day, there is a chance you can get it on the same day. Under normal circumstances for Bangladesh passport holders it takes 2 days including the day of submission.

Just copy pasting previous posts for your reference:

Laos Visa in BKK
by: Susmit

Address Embassy of Laos in Bangkok: EMBASSY OF THE LAO P.D.R in Bangkok, Thailand,

520, 502/1-3 Soi Sahakarnpramoon, Pracha-Uthit Road,

Wangthonglang, Bangkok 10310, Thailand

Telephone: (+66) 2539-6667-8, (+66) 2539-4018

Fax : (+66) 2539-3827

Just go to the embassy and apply for your visa once you are in Bangkok. There is no Laos Embassy in Bangladesh, so applying in Bangkok is the only option. It takes 1 working day to process Lao Visa. Carry proof of hotel reservation with you, as Bangladesh nationals are required to submit Hotel Stay Confirmation during their visa application.

Hope this helps,

Just to add some points with Susmit
by: Ishtiaque

I would also like to add few points with Susmit:

You should also need to show them a return air ticket from BKK to Laos ( Vientiane/Luang Prabang) and back to BKK or to other destination outside Laos. If you can manage to go before 12pm you will get visa on the same day in the afternoon. You can show a dummy air ticket ( As I did).

They will ask for a photocopy of debit/credit card ( They are not smart enough to understand whether the card can be used internationally or not) so you can use copy of any card but your name should match with the card holder's name.

On the visa they will not mention whether the travel must take place by road/air so I guess you can decide that at a later stage whatever suits you. I had limited time and I was travelling from Cambodia so I didn't take the risk and traveled by air.

Hope these post by Ishtiaque & me answers your query.

Have a safe and wonderful travel! :)

Regarding Vietnam Visa
by: Susmiy

Hi Raafsan,

Yes, I got mine from Dhaka last time. Before that I got it from Sihanoukville in Cambodia which was about 2 year ago.

To get the Approval Letter, you can contact Tonkin Travels.

Add 164 Xuan Dieu St., Hanoi, Vietnam
Phone +84 4 3719 1180 - Fax +84 4 3719 1181
Mobile +84 978797009 - Email nga@tonkintravel.com
Web : www.tonkintravel.com
FaceBook Tonkin Travel Flickr Tonkin Pictures
Skype duong.nga85

I first submitted my application without the Approval Letter so the embassy asked me to submit one. Once I provided them with the Approval Letter, it took may be around a week. It was a sticker visa.

But apparently you can just travel with the Approval Letter and get your Visa Stamped in the Airport for USD 45.

Thanks,
Susmit

Viet Nam Visa
by: Raafsan

Hi Susmit,

Thanks very much for the information. Well, It'd be great help if you could let me know the following answers:

1. Did you get your Viet Nam Visa from Dhaka? If yes, then was it sticker visa?

2. How did you manage pre- approval of immigration clearance? (If through Vietnamese Travel/Tour Agencies then what's your agency recommendation)

3. Did you show your bank statement, air ticket/itinerary and hotel booking info to the visa officer (As most of the travel agencies ask these docs; It's not been asked though)

4. How long did it take to have your visa?

5. How much you needed to pay as visa fee?

Thanks in advance for your help and would like to hear you back with your viet nam visa experience (I heard that getting viet nam visa from Dhaka is full of hassle)

Thanks,

Raafsan

Vietnam Visa
by: Susmit

Just Copy Pasting information from Viet Nam Embassy, Dhaka site, in case you missed, there there are shit loads of 'Unofficial' sites.

Also, when I got mine from Dhaka around 6/7 months back, they required Copy of the pre-approval of immigration clearance issued by the Immigration Department, Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam or from the Consular Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.

& to obtain that you often need to have someone in Viet Nam or book a tour with Vietnamese Travel/Tour Agencies. Kindly note that, most tour/travel agencies can even arrange for Visa approval, in which case you can get your visa stamped at the immigration upon your arrival, paying USD 45. I preferred to get mine at the embassy in Dhaka then.

Vietnam Visa
by: Ishtiaque

Hi Raafsan,

I applied at Vietnam Embassy in Cairo. For certain nationalities ( Including Bangladesh ) it takes some extra days to obtain visa since the embassy needs security clearance from Vietnam. Before going to the embassy I asked for the documents I need to submit and required no. of days to obtain visa but I was misguided. Once I went to the embassy I was informed about the extra care for certain nationalities. Fortunately I had all the required documents with me ( HR Letter, Bank Statement, Dummy ticket) but I had to wait for 7 days to obtain visa when for Egyptians and most of the other nationals it takes 1-2 days.

I will suggest to give the embassy an enquiring call where you are currently based regarding documents and timeline. They will be able to guide you better since requirements may vary from country to country.

Regards,
Ishtiaque

!!
by: Susmit

Firstly, I am not sure whether it is you who needs help or you are willing to help. Anyway, just pointing out a few things-

1. Travelling by Air to Kuala lumpur from Bangkok is a better idea anyway than trying to cross over land or rail. Thai Land borders often creates trouble/hassle for nationals of few countries including Bangladesh. If it is the cost you are worried about, avail Air Asia or any other Low Cost Carriers. They are often way cheaper than train.

2. Not really sure why you talked about Turkish Visa in this forum, anyway, Turkey has now introduced E-Visas, so you can apply online. It takes 2 to 4 days to process, Just got one for my friend a few days back.

Also, if you have a valid U.S., U.K., Schengen or any OECD country visa, you can obtain Turkish Visa on Arrival. (Kindly check with IATA/Airlines as this rule may change anytime without prior notice). I got mine On Arrival showing my valid U.S. visa last month.

Hope these information help!

Susmit

Vietnam Visa
by: Ishtiaque

Susmit already mentioned all the key information you guys needed regarding Lao visa and dummy air ticket.

For Vietnam visa - I will suggest check with the embassy first what are the requirements. You don't need to go there. Just ask over a phone call. I didn't need to pre book tour through a Vietnamese agency when I applied for visa but I didn't apply in Bangladesh;requirements may differ from country to country. Also it took more no. of days to obtain visa compared to other national - so apply in advance keeping some buffer days in hand.

Regarding Cambodia, Lao & Vietnam Visa/ Dummy Tickets
by: Susmit

Hi,

Replying to both comments here. firstly, Bangladesh nationals can obtain a Cambodian Visa on Arrival if you are travelling by Air. There are few conditions:

1. Need to show USD 700 or more in cash.
2. Confirmed Hotel Booking
3. Return or Onward Ticket.

Coming to Lao Visa, a Bangladesh national under no condition holding an ordinary passport can get a Visa on Arrival, however applying for a Lao Visa is not difficult. You can apply for it in Bangkok, Phnom Penh (Cambodia) or any where else where there is a Lao Embassy. have the following ready:

1. Hotel Booking.
2. Return / Onward Ticket.

as Ishtiaque in his previous post mentioned, you need to show that you are travelling by Air if you are applying in Bangkok. So have that in mind. As for me, I applied for Lao Visa in Cambodia and no questioned were asked how I would travel.

Coming to Vietnam Visa, it is very difficult to obtain a Vietnam Visa for Bangladesh nationals. So do not fall into the trap of travel agencies promising you Vietnam Visa for USD 200 or more or less. To obtain a Vietnnam Visa you need to arrange your travel through a Vietnamese Tour Agency. Once you do that, you can request them to obtain a Visa for you, or ask them to send a "Referecne Letter", with which you can apply at a Vietnamese Embassy.

Now, the last query about Dummy Air Ticket, it is not that you create an air ticket through microsoft word, paint or photoshop, but that you book an air ticket with "Book Now & Pay Leter" obtain. When you do that, you get an E-Ticket, which obviously get cancelled if you don't pay with in the given time. However, the embassies do not have enough time to check your PNR status and confirm the same. Thats what I meant and understand as Dummy Ticket. Just for your help, you can book a flight on Thai Airways and then choose "Contact Thai Airways Ofice/Counter" when you go to payment page. In that case you have a ticket which is valid for 72 hours, provided you are booking flight for a date 7 days from the time you book. So there you are, you have a dummy ticket.

For those who know a Travel Agency closely, you can request for the same. A travel Agency can provide you with PNR number i.e dummy ticket for most airlines.

Hope the nformation helps.

Thanks,
Susmit

Hope it helps

About Thai Re-Entry Visa
by: Susmit

Hi,

As you correctly pointed out, Thai Multiple Entry Visas are now issued at the Thai Embassy, Dhaka. However, the fees is around BDT 15000/- (Approx).

So, it is better for you to apply for Thai Transit Visa (Double Entry) as I did when I traveled to Laos.

It cost you BDT 5100 for a Double Entry Transit Visa. You need to show a visa for the third country though. In case you do not have a third country visa, book a e-ticket (dummy ticket will do) for Cambodia from Thailand and show it at VFS.

Cambodia provides Visa On Arrival for Bangladesh nationals.

Thanks,
Susmit

Reply to Mahbub's comment
by: Ishtiaque

Hi Mahbub,

Here goes my reply to your queries:

1. You don't need to show paid hotel booking. Booking through booking.com or any other website will do

2. For airline booking also dummy booking will work. I submitted dummy airline booking

3 & 4 - Copy of passport, debit/credit card, 2 photographs (PP copy)

5. Return air ticket should be sufficient. But they might check your Thai/other destination's visa based on the air ticket. The lady in the counter took my passport and checked but not sure whether she checked my Thai visa or other information.

If you arrive at the embassy before 12 pm I assume visa will be processed on the same day afternoon. I got visa on the same day - but it's always better to keep one day buffer

I don't have any clue about re-entry stamp. Kindly check at Thai embassy. However, I assume if you apply for double entry visa and show your return ticket (Dummy ticket should be sufficient) from Laos to Thailand they might consider it. I got double entry visa by showing dummy return ticket but I applied in Cairo

Hope it helps.

getting lao visa at bangkok
by: Mahbub

Thanks to Susmit and Ishtiaque for the great info about getting Lao visa from Bangkok.

Just to reiterate.

For visa, I need:
1) hotel booking (paid or just confirmation only?)
2) airline booking BKK-VTE-BKK (for example)
(just booking, or confirmed ticket with eticket number
is required?)

3) copy of my credit/debit card
4) 2 copies of photograph
5) proof of my return eligibility to bangkok (dual
entry visa or a re-entry permit?)

Also if I arrive before 12pm, I can hope to get the visa by the same afternoon, is that correct?

Since currently the Thai embassy is only issuing single entry visa (or multiple at more than 4 times the cost), I was planning on getting a re-entry stamp at the airport - is that still available?

Thanks in advance for your kind help!

Saif - Use your common sense
by: Ishtiaque

Hi Saif,

Single entry visa will allow you to enter into a country once, after you are exiting from that country visa will be used so you won't be able to enter that country again until you are getting a new visa

Double entry visa will allow you to enter into a country twice
Multiple entry visa will allow you to enter into a country as many time as you want.

All the entries should take place within the time specified on your visa.

now since your itinerary is Dhaka-Thailand-Laos-Thailand-Dhaka, you are entering Thailand twice and Laos once. So you will need double entry visa for Thailand and single entry visa fo Laos.

There is a small catch. While coming back from Laos if you just take a transit at Bangkok airport (without going outside immigration) then single entry visa is sufficient. However this might be a bit complicated process since you may need to travel in the same airline or you may face trouble while boarding at the airport in Laos.

so if you want to visit Laos I will suggest get a double entry visa from Thai embassy

Laos Visa for Bangladesh National
by: Susmit

Hi Riaz,

I checked your link and was excited about the information, considering Laos is such a beautiful country to visit. However, I was in Laos till last week and it was clearly written at the Visa On Arrival counter that Bangladesh and certain other nationals are not qualified to apply for Visa On Arrival for Laos. (checked with VOA counter even though I was holding a visa on my passport).

Even checked with the IATA Visa Requirements right now and we are required to apply for Visa before arrival. Here is the link http://www.iatatravelcentre.com/LA-Laos-passport-visa-health-travel-document-requirements.htm

So anyone reading this thread kindly check with the embassy or the airlines if VOA is actually available for Bangladesh nationals, as IATA site (supposed to be most trustworthy information provider for Visa and other requirements) says we STILL need to apply for Visa before arrival :(

I am not sure about those holding official or diplomatic passports!

Thanks,
Susmit

Reaching Vientiane from Thailand (Bangkok/Chaing Mai)
by: Susmit

Hi,

As of now there is no direct flight between Chiang Mai (Thailand) and Vientiane (Laos). If you want to reach Vientiane by flight the only option you have is to take a connecting flight (usually in Bangkok).

Also it is very expensive to fly to the Lao cities by flight (Vientiane/Luang Prabang) considering the cities are easily accessible by Bus/Train and they are very comfortable. However if one has limited time, it is suggested that you take a flight to Udon Thai (Thailand) which is pretty close to the Lao-Thai border (the Friendship Bridge @ Nong Khai) and you can take a direct bus to Vientiane or take a shared transport to the border and take one of the many means of transport available at the border whichever suits your budget.

Hope the information helps! Also you may be asked to step aside at the immigration by the immigration officer once you present your passport for existing Thailand. Do not over react to the situation, as they ask you to go inside to the Chief Immigration Officer. There is a English speaking lady who will see your passport (doubt if she is actually an officer, she looks barely 20) and ask you to get a photocopy of your passport information page, the Thai Visa and the departure card. Once you get that she fills a form in Thai and reads it to you in English (written in Thai). Apparently it is required for certain nationals to provide the details of travels (like Bangladesh, there was another guy from Israel who was sent after me) like where you stayed in Thailand and the details where you will be staying if you have planning of re-entering Thailand (in case you have a Double/Multiple Entry Visa).

Thanks!

Susmit

Not sure about the amount
by: Ishtiaque

Not sure how much you need to show them at Lao airport. I was carrying around USD 3000 and they were fine with that. Though it's really stupid when most of the travelers are using debit/credit card mostly these days and don't carry much cash in the pocket.

I didn't face any hassle in the embassies except I was not allowed to travel by road. My plan was to enter Siem Reap from Bangkok by bus and took a bus to 4000 island (Laos) from Phnom Penh. I missed out 4000 island since I was not allowed to travel by bus. I took a flight from Phnom Penh to Vientiane.

Laos Visa for Bangladesh nationals in Cambodia
by: Susmit

Hi,

Just joining the discussion again. So I had applied for my Laos Visa in Phnom Penh and it was really easy. The embassy did not really create any problem for being a Bangladesh national. However, I was asked to submit a receipt of hotel booking for my stay in Laos, Which I did and the visa officer asked me to collect the visa the next day. I got my passport with Laos Single Entry Visa valid for 2 months. The visa cost is USD 45.

Just curious, how much USD did you require to show at the Laos Airport Ishtiaque? I am leaving for Laos in a couple of days from Thailand.

Thanks!

Susmit

Lao and Cambodian visa for Bangladeshi nationals
by: Habib Ishtiaque Ahammad

Thanks Susmit for your comment, it will really help.

I just came back from Laos and Cambodia and I must say it was not a nice experience either in the embassies as well as in airport.

Cambodian Visa: I applied in Cambodian embassy in Bangkok. They require return ticket, hotel booking and permit Bangladeshi to travel by air only and not by road. Visa can be obtained within 30 minutes.

Laos Visa: they need return ticket, hotel booking and photocopy of credit card. To Laos you can travel by road but in that case they will give you visa after 3 weeks of application since they will send the application to Laos for approval. You can obtain visa on the same day if you have return air ticket.

Be ready for the hassle at airports both in Laos and Cambodia even after having visa. You need to show them USD so it's wise to carry some cash.

Cambodia Visa On Arrival for Bangladesh Nationals
by: Susmit

Hi,

Just happened to find this discussion while I was searching for Vietnam Visa related information.

So, Bangladesh nationals CAN obtain a Visa On Arrival. I received it on 30/10/2015. However, there are some requirements which are specific to a list of 9/10 countries including Bangladesh.

1. You need to present Confirmed Ticket for Onward Journey from Cambodia, i.e. a Return ticket or ticket to any other destination. (You also need to show that you have Visa for the Onward destination),

2. Proof of sufficient fund to sustain in Cambodia (Now it is not what you think the amount you need to survive in Cambodia, but what the Cambodian authorities expect you to spend, i.e. atleast USD 700 IN CASH)

3. Confirmed Hotel Stay in Cambodia for the duration of travel.

The fees for Visa on Arrival is USD 30 for Bangladesh Nationals like all others.

FYI the Airlines always tends to create a lot of problem with Bangladesh nationals. They may even tell you that you CAN NOT travel and not allow you to check-in, as Air Asia did with me just two days back when I was traveling from Bangalore to Siem Reap via Bangkok. They checked me in and then after immigration when I was waiting at the Gate, the Air Asia lady approached me and said I may not be able to travel as they Checked and Re-Checked with their Thai counterpart. Finally I was allowed to board the flight to Bangkok after nearly an hour of argument and showing them IATA Visa informations, etc and of course their own Passport & Visa Information.

Once I reached Bangkok, at the transit document check they created problem again. Fist, they said I CAN NOT travel and will have to return back to Bangalore in the next flight. Then they said I need to show them the hotel booking and sufficient funding, which I did. However, I did not have USD 700 in cash and the airport did not have an ATM! (Don Muang Airport) Finally 45 minutes before the flight after making me wait for nearly 5 hours they allowed me to travel.

So, if you can just apply for the Visa at the Embassy. If you cannot do that, then make sure you speak with the airlines before hand about your travel.

* Note that Diplomatic/ Official Passport holders from Bangladesh CAN obtain their Visa on Arrival without ANY travel. My dad just did a couple of months back.

Best,
Susmit

Visa processing and requirements
by: Duangpy

Hi Ishtiaque,

Yes right, embassy people in Hanoi don't reply email, I wrote to them too but not a single reply. I wonder if Lao embassy in BKK will be the same.

Ok, to your questions.

1. How long does it take to get Lao visa at Bangkok/Hanoi?
Usually it takes 2 days. You submit your application in the morning and collect your visa the next day in the afternoon.

2. What are the documents I need to submit to apply for Lao visa
- Your passport. At 6 months remain validity.
- 1-2 passport type photos.
I'm not sure if guarantee letter is still required, it was in the past. FYI: this guarantee letter needs to be provided by a Lao person through the ministry of foreign affairs in Laos. It's a hassle I know, and I hope it's not required anymore.
Here is their email in BKK laoembassybkk@clsoxinfo.com, just in case you want to make an enquiry.

3. If I get the visa which border is open for me to enter? Is it required to mention the border through which I intend to enter?
You can enter at any international border (borders that foreigners can cross). There are some borders where only locals are allowed to cross, but these kind of borders locate in very remote areas which I think you won't want to go there anyway.

FYI: here is the page about Lao international borders https://www.laos-guide-999.com/Laos-border.html

In the visa application form, you need to indicate the port of entry, but I don't think they are strict in terms of where you actually enter.

As for the Cambodian visa, I don't know much more than shared in the previous posts. Sorry.

Lao visa at Bangkok/Hanoi
by: Ishtiaque

Hello there,

I am planning to visit Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam in coming September. I am a Bangladeshi national currently working in Egypt. Unfortunately neither Laos nor Cambodia has their embassies in Egypt and for both of the countries on arrival visa is not available for Bangladeshi citizen.

Now I am planning to apply for Lao and Cambodia visa in Bangkok/Hanoi.

I was searching for email contact for Lao embassy in the official page. I got emai address for Hanoi but not for Bangkok. Haven't received any reply from Hanoi though after sending my queries. Can you please help me out by letting me know the following information:

1. How long does it take to get Lao visa at Bangkok/Hanoi?
2. What are the documents I need to submit to apply for Lao visa
3. If I get the visa which border is open for me to enter? Is it required to mention the border through which I intend to enter?

If you know all those information for Cambodian visa as well please do let me know.

Thanks and regards,

Thanks for sharing
by: Duangpy

Good to hear the Cambodian visa on arrival is available for Bangladeshi national.

I'm honestly a bit hesitant, but since the info is from the authority in their field, it must be true. However, if you have different experience when you and your wife have done the trip please can you share? I'm just curious, and I think others would love to hear from someone who actually has done it.

Cheers

Visa in advance for Bangladeshi passport holder
by: Duangpy

Hi Bobby,
Yes, you're right your wife needs to have a visa to travel to Laos.

She can apply for the visa while in Vietnam. If there is no problem with documents and things it normally takes one day (overnight). There is also express service (same day) with extra fee.

Please bare in mind that for citizen of the countries listed as "not eligible for visa on arrival" (here ahttps://www.laos-guide-999.com/visa-on-arrival.html#noteligble) Lao embassy/consulates consider whether or not to grant visa in case by case basic. It can't be guaranteed that everyone will be successful.

You can't get Lao visa in Bangladesh
by: Duangpy

As there is no Lao embassy in Bangladesh, your only option is to get it in the third country where there is a Lao embassy/consulate. I often suggest visitors to get it at Lao consulate in Thailand, but I didn't get feedback whether they were successful or not.

It maybe easier if you can get someone in Laos (your mother or your relative) to get a sponsoring letter (this is done through ministry of foreign affairs) sent to you and your friend so that you can show that letter to the Lao embassy/consulate when you apply for the visa. Without this, it can be hard, but you never know because they consider visa applicants in a case by case basic.

Laos Business Visa on Arrival for Bangladeshi Citizen
by: Masud

Hi,

I have a plan to visit Laos at the end of this month (April 2015), for a short duration (8-10 days) as part of my work.

I am working for a company who got a contract from WFP to conduct a survey in Laos, and I will be planning to meet WFP officials and select local survey company.

So, I wanted to know if it is possible for me to get a visa on arrival. FYI, I am a Bangladeshi citizen.

Your response would be much appreciated.

Kind regards
Masud

every country has thier rules
by: Anonymous

Hi Roger,
I think it is the same reason why Lao citizens or others need a visa to get into Bangladrsh. Same idea of entering someone's house, normally people won't just walk in other people's place without their invitation or permission, if they don't want to face a criminal charge for breaking in.

Laos maybe worse than Bangladesh in your opinion, but it's a country in its own rights, it has its own rules and regulations. If you don't like it, it is fine.

By the way, FYI, Luang Prabang (a world heritage town in Laos) has been ranked top destination for several years, this is voted by tourists all over the globe so...will that be able to prove that it is worth a visit?

Best to contact the embassy
by: D.

Well...I think it will be best to talk to the Lao embassy in Bangkok, where you said your document have been sent to, and ask them to send the documents to Laos embassy in New Delhi, India. Maybe you can explain your situation the you can't go to Thailand because you can't get the Thai visa.

In Lao embassies in various places, they almost always deal with visa applicants in a case by case basis, I can't give you a definite answer here, and I don't thinks others can either.

Service apartment and internet service
by: D.

I think it really depends on your travel plan.
You plan to go around the country or just in one place?

If you want to rent an apartment so you have a place to come back to after traveling around then I think Vientiane Capital would be a good city to be base in. It's in the central of the country so it is easier access to other parts around it.

As for service apartment, a reasonable price for a unit with the facilities you required would range from US$500 - US$800 or US$1000 per month depending on areas (in city centre it is more expensive)

For high speed internet, there are a few providers that claim they provide high speed internet, here is one http://www.laopdr.com/ourservices.html.

If you don't require supper high speed internet, most apartments come with wireless (you don't have to pay extra).

Hope this helps.

Hi D!

Gratefully acknowledging your guidance. Thank you, Asian honeymoon is going awesome ! Enjoying it so much that I am thinking of extending it another
6-12 months before heading out to Europe. Frankly speaking, the more I travel in Asia, the more I fall in love with its various cultures, nuances and the friendly people:)

By the way , Yay!! ISP gods sent your message through:) on time this time --hehe!

I like your idea and will follow suit during our stay in Thailand.

Requesting your comments/suggestions on this scenerio:

60 days in Laos. Requirements (1) Furnished & serviced apartment with cooking facility [since both of us are "Expert cooks" and are very health conscious] (2) High speed internet 2MB/sec minimium "preferable" (3) Secure surroundings

Questions: (1) Where in Laos (any places in particular--City, name of abodes , etc. (2) What would be "fair" pricing for these services?

Thanks in advance. I await your kind guidance.

With Sincere Gratitude to the Divine and your honest self---Chip

Lao consulates in the countries you mentioned can issue visa
by: D.

Hi Chip,
Sorry to hear the internet didn't deliver my message to you immediately.

So you've done quite a lot of your planned travel, great. I wish I've a chance to do as much.

As for the Lao visa for your wife, as there is no Lao embassy in Bangladesh or somewhere nearby I'd suggest that you apply for it at one of the Lao embassies or consulates in the countries that you plan to go to. Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam all have a Lao embassy.

If you'd like to contact them ahead, here is the list of all Lao embassies in various locations https://www.laos-guide-999.com/Laos-embassy.html

I think that's the only option I can think of since visa on arrival is not applicable for her as a Bangladeshi.

Good luck and enjoy your honeymoon travel.

Thanks! Just received this :(
by: chip0784

Hello there D.Phothisane !

Gratefully acknowledging your reply of Aug 11, 2014 in response to my posting of the same day. While you are efficient in your response time, the internet gods and our (yous & mine) ISP provider gods conspired to keep your message away from my curious eyes till 19 minutes ago!!

Yes, I just received your message 19 minutes ago (It is 7:24 AM ET, 11/17/14--).---haha to technology & efficiency + plans of mice and man esp. in Asia :)

Now that you are upto date on the "delayed email" issue. Here is our latest status further to my posting of 08/11/14 (August 11) :...continuing our 1 year Asian honeymoon:)--India was great, Darjeeling was superb! Nepal/Pokahara/Kathmundu was fantastic:)

We are now back in Bangladesh visiting my wife's family.Getting ready to head for Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Philippines and Vietnam.

Thought, we would make 1 more attempt to stop by your beautiful country, seeing that we will be in neighbor countries.

My questions still remains the same from my posting of 08/11/14 (August 11)---Please replace being in "india" with "Bangladesh".

Note: Have already arranged ALL Visas for each of the 5 countries mentioned above.

I await your kind comments and guidance.

With Sincere Gratitude to the Divine:-----Chip

Not sure about Cambodia Evisa
by: Duangpy

So...you want to visit Laos and Cambodia?

As far as I know, Bangladeshi Citizen can't get a Cambodian Evisa according to website of Cambodian government here https://www.evisa.gov.kh.

Laos doesn't issue visa on arrival to Bangladeshi Citizen either. So... I'd suggest you apply for the visa (both Laos and Cambodia) at their embassy or consulate in other countries like Thailand, Singapore etc.

Arrange Lao visa in India
by: D.

Hello Chip,
Wow! What a honeymoon trip.
Great to have you here.

For your questions I would recommend as followings:

(A) From India how do we solve Visa issue for my wife (Bangladesh passport)?

Since you're already in India, I would suggest that you give the Lao embassy/consulate a call to check out. Here is phone number of Lao embassy/consulate in New Delhi (91-11) 632 3048, (91-11) 693 3319 or (91-11) 693 3320. Or better still visit them in person. Here is the address https://www.laos-guide-999.com/Laos-embassy.html

(B) Can Laos provide us High Speed Internet, so that we can stay in constant touch with our family in USA & Bangladesh?

Yes, Laos has the internet access but not sure if it is as high speed as you expect. I use (a normal speed) internet everyday doing all stuff on the internet without a glitch (posting pictures, updating my site, getting in touch with my family and friends).

In many hotels or guesthouses you're given free Wi-fi, though it might get slow at times, but that's normal in Laos.
Anyway, I'm sure it is reliable for you to stay

Bangladeshi need visa in advance to go to Laos
by: D.

It's possible for every traveler to go to Lao by road, but it might be harder for some than others due to visa requirement.

As for Bangladeshi, it's recommended that you obtain the visa before you go because you are not eligible for visa on arrival (in another word you can't get visa at the border check point). If there is no Lao consulate in your country, you need to go to another country where there is Lao embassy or consulate to get your visa.

If Thailand is in your travel plan, then you can apply for the visa there. It take a couple of days for visa processing.

When you get a Lao visa on your passport, you can visit Laos the way you want (by road or by air).

Booking a hotel before arriving? no, it's not required for visa application.

Nongkhai-Vientiane border
by: D.

Sheikh,

Lao-Thai Friendship bridge connecting Nongkhai (Thailand) and Vientiane (Laos) is the most common border crossing points for people traveling from Bangkok to Laos.

From Bangkok, you need to get to Nongkhai in order to cross the border to Laos.

>>As a Bangladeshi passport holder is it possible to visit Laos by road?

Yes, it's possible to travel to Laos by road provided that you have a Lao entry visa on your passport. Bangladeshi passport holders are not eligible to get Lao visa on arrival. Check out the list here https://www.laos-guide-999.com/visa-on-arrival.html#noteligble

Apply for visa in Thailand, Cambodia or Vietnam
by: D.Phothisane

Hello Nafeesa,

Sorry for late getting back to you, I didn't see your messages till today for some reasons.

Anyway, hope this is in time for your planned date.

As you're not entitled to obtaining Lao visa on arrival, the only option for you is to get it at one of the Lao consulates outside of Laos. Online visa is not existing for Laos.

I understand that there is no Lao consulate in Bangladesh, but you can do it as most people do. They get their visa in Laos' neighbors countries such as Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. Usually going to Laos from your country is via Thailand anyway, so you just need to spend a night or so in Thailand to apply for the visa.

Before setting your plan, I'd suggest you contact Lao consulate in Thailand (or other place that you plan to go through) to find out the exact info to make sure before you decide.
Here is Lao embassy page FYI. https://www.laos-guide-999.com/Laos-embassy.htm
