Driving mini-van into Laos

Hi guys

Can a drive a mini-van into Laos. do i need any particular documentation for that and if so where do i get it. Thanks

Thanks for the question.
The answer to your question is YES you can drive into Laos. The number of people driving into Laos has increased in recent years. I saw camper vans and cars with unfamiliar number plates running in Vientiane quite often so...there is no reason why you can't.

You will definitely need to have documentation to get your vehicle into Laos. Basically the documentation is for temporary importing the vehicle to Laos. However, the exact documentation is what I need to find out...so right now I can't give you much info as I don't want to say things that I'm not sure about.

The best place to find out about all this is the Lao embassy in your country (Australia). I would call to have a chat with them, they should be able to advise.

Tip: If you want to get an answer, avoid email as they are not good at responding email. I sent the embassy people email many occasions, they didn't reply at all.
